Hi All,

I have started looking about for referance material on the Soleil. I thought it would be nice to create this thread for anybody to dump links to anything that may be of interest to fellow builders.

The model in Paris is considered the benchmark in terms of accuracy. I know Tom has posted a link to it but hear are some good close up pics for referance

He now that's what I call modelling
Deck planking is of a dark wood that 'looks' so much better than the White of our models that is supposed to be "Holystoned"
He! interesting Did the Non British Holystone there decks ??

Also notice how the bulkheads are Horizontal rather than vertical on the kit

Be interesting to know who is correct!!

You are free to stain your deck planking walnut or change the wood type.

The model in the link is a representation, it does not mean that it is wholly correct!

A are you also going to carve from wood the individual elements of ships ornamentation to replace the metal ornamentation supplied in the kit?..

For practical reasons the horizontal planking would be more waterproof than vertical hence why sheds are ship lap and not vertical
