Hello all,

I haven't had much modelling time of late and wanted to get going again on the firewall plumbing/wiring as my first update in a while, but that takes a bit of time thinking about it before I make a start. However, I found myself with an odd half hour here and there through the day today, so I made use of it by tackling a different part of the engine assembly that didn't require a lot of thinking about, namely the engine cowling support frames. All they needed was some PE applied from my Eduard 'BigEd' set that replicates the heavy fabric damping plates that can be seen all around the frames on the real thing? Once they were applied, there was also a textured cover plate to apply on an electrical junction box on the port frame and then both frames were sprayed with some Tamiya Grey 'Fine' Surface Primer. I will spray them in 'RAF Interior Green' at a later date with the fabric damping plates picked out in a sort of dirty beige/khaki colour and those beautiful Aires 'Quickboost' resin exhaust stubs that I have will also eventually be fitted to these frames.

Not much of an update, sorry, but I made good use of a little intermittent modelling time today (there were 43 individual pieces of PE to fit!) and at least it gets me going again on this build!! Looking forward to a bigger update next time.

All comments and criticisms welcomed.

A half hour well spent Kev! Looks great and its good to see you back on the Spit again!
I know what you mean about the 'thinking' part of modelling - Frederick's turning out very similar, it's the sort of build where there are so many individual bits and pieces to work out that not much seems to be proceeding until it all comes together right at the end (hopefully!)
Keep up the great work!

Thanks Daran, been a while coming but certainly looking forward to what's going to happen with this build!

Hello Robin, it was several half-hours throughout the day, just as and when I was passing my modelling bench with nothing else to do at the time - don't think I could have fitted 43 individual pieces of PE in just a single half hour, LOL!! Thinking and planning are THE most important parts of model building for me, lack of thought usually leads to a model in the bin!!
