Finishing materials such as wood stain are not included in any period ship kit, such items are accepted extras in the same manner that you need tools/glue etc to construct such a kit.

i am 62 years of age and this is the first time i have built a wooden model.i am enjoying every minute of the build and dont care about wood coulors, there is plenty of stains and varnishes on the market.i look at the forum every day for advice and ideas but at the moment all i am seeing is moaning and groaning.surely it is up to you how your build turns out and if you want a museum piece then you can make it one,if you cant be bothered then get out and let the rest of us enjoy.
may i just add that i have about two years to live so am doing this for my grand children, there wont be another build after this one so am going to put all my love into this and finnish it.at least i can leave something worthwile behind me.
so stop moaning enjoy the build and show your model off with pride.

This will not end.
I dont object to moans and groans (lol). Were entitled to it. Also we British love it.
The points raised about inferior material quality is spot on. As long as no one is picking out anybody or picking on anyone then its ok.
If a point has to be made about getting stepped on by 'The Man' then by all means highlight it and talk about it.
It may work in our favour at the next boot that comes crashing down on us.
Deag told us eons ago that nothing....NOTHING is finalised.
Mags may change at drop of a hat. So will instructions (these are more like instructions than destructions which im more used to). I hope they dont change.
Materials are changing, Cannons 3times, the copper solution can still change, two toned wood is now all the same. (not bothered myself im painting it). No show on the plans as yet....cause they might change.
Who knows what else.
So im sorry but if experienced people have a gripe about the quality, and im sure they have a point which means im learning about why.
One lesson that has been absolutly drilled in me is Deag are not that bad but also really not that good.
Ive said it before that this publication is for the beginner.
WHO KNOWS NO BETTER!!!!
Shrewd by Deag. Maximising profits can change any day for any reason. If u get a cheap cannon compaired to other ones then its still a cannon.
Small print sucks eh.
Gettin a kit-jobbie next. If Deag have taught me well enough!BigGrin
i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.

You dont care about wood colour etc, so if you got a pink ship with fluffy feathered sails, you would be ok with that Blink LOL

As for all the moaning, well that's down to you lot!, all I did was ask a question, it's you lot that are moaning about it! BigGrin
