I have complete assembly of my drone but have some problems. When the motors are armed (props off) the motors spin at quite high revs and the rpms change even with no control inputs. Ch 5 and 6 switches are away.

The LED board (37) gets too hot to touch.

When I plug the drone into the pc to try and read the sensors, I don't get any data on the screen. The software installed OK and the driver installed OK, although I have COM port 7 rather than 3.

The assembly has been carefully checked, and I can't find any loose connections.

Also, what does the red button on Board 46 do ?

Finally, how do you change between stabilised mode and manual mode - the instructions say put ch 5 & 6 away for both modes....

Any trouble shooting advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

When the motors are armed (props off) the motors spin at quite high revs and the rpms change even with no control inputs. Ch 5 and 6 switches are away. - This should not happen. Probably the problem lies with the Receiver, but we need to further investigate and possibly replace.

The LED board (37) gets too hot to touch. - Possibly a short on the board that a replacement would rectify, though this may need further investigation.

When I plug the drone into the pc to try and read the sensors, I don't get any data on the screen. The software installed OK and the driver installed OK, although I have COM port 7 rather than 3. - The COM port number doesn’t matter, but the data sensor should appear. We need understand what’s causing this.

The assembly has been carefully checked, and I can't find any loose connections.

Also, what does the red button on Board 46 do? - The red button is used to set the Flight Control Board in 'firmware update' mode. There is no requirement to use this switch by the end user.

Finally, how do you change between stabilised mode and manual mode - the instructions say put ch 5 & 6 away for both modes. - There is no difference between ‘Manual mode’ and 'Stabilize mode’. When the drone flies in 'manual mode', the gyros ‘stabilize’ the drone: ‘manual’ and ‘stabilise’ are two different ways of referring to the same flight mode.
However I found that both switches in the away position is 'manual' CH6 and middle position is 'GPS-stabilised' CH5.

The unresolved problems seem deep routed and will need to be further investigated by the drone design tech guys, However, we are in peak holiday season and the guys just gone on vacation until the 25th August, but its at the top of their list to investigate on their return and will update in due course..

It would appear that you likely have a defective Flight Control Board. The suggestion is that we send you a tested FCB and, just to be sure, a new tail LED board and a USB interface plug, (the defective FCB might also have damaged the LED board circuits and USB).

Please let me know your shipping address by PM and will get these organised to be sent to you.

Once you receive the items, its very important that the SkyRider 'Checklist' is observed, which can be found as a PDF download beneath "The Build" tab in this link..

Hopefully this will resolve your drone problems and if not, then by all means come back to me.
