Hello again shipmates This is probably a question for Tomick. In the latest part of your build diary you mentioned that we would be getting instructions for fitting the Garboard plankin issue 35. What I would like to know is whether this plank will be wider than the other planks as suggested in a book I've been reading on planking techniques. The reason I'm asking is because I am considering the purchase of some Walnut timber for the lower hull, which leads me to another question which is how would I calculate how much timber to buy to cover that area. Thanks in advance for any advice on this. Daffy09

Hi Daffy09,
The garboard planks/strakes for this model are identical to the hull planks.
For the freeboard inc garboard you'll need around 140 at 2x5x500, though there will be variance from build to build.

Thanks Tomick, That's what I wanted to know. Because I messed up my launch by trying to stain it, I thought it would be better to go for a darker timber and then just use Danish oil to finish. Thanks again Daffy09
