Just introducing myself.I am a novice kit builder (1st build). Bit of a hands on person when it comes to wood generally, so a bit of filing, cutting, adjusting parts in a kit not a problem. Currently finished the main part of the ship "Le Renard" (AL), now into the masts/rigging/sails. Started the kit years ago, put it away, brought it out again with a renewed passion for completing it.Have done extensive research into my next kit. I can say, it's a nightmare. Looking at kit providers and then searching forums etc, you become very confused, to say the least. Anywho, I had finally settled on the "Apostol Filipe" by Occre, love the look and history of the galleons. Great shaped ships, a few canon, a bit of bling, good stuff. Looked at ordering from their site and of course , they are on holidays, closed for the month (good on them). Looked a bit further and found Cornwallmodelboats site in the UK that have a great range/choice (believe me, I looked extensively around many other sites). Good thing for Aussies is that they take the 20% VAT (tax) off the price, as we are overseas orders. Bonus! Their shipping is not cheap, about $80. Procrastinated a little more, then "Jase" from this forum site, presented the "HMS Revenge", when I did a search on "Occre quality". Well, after that endorsement, who could resist. Have now ordered it, great looking galleon with a great history, a fair bit cheaper than the "Apostol Felipe", guessing the scale difference (1:60 versus 1:85) could be the cruncher but it's only my 2nd kit, so very excited. You just have to take the plunge, even though a kit will consume months, if not more of your time, so you do want to get it right. No kit is perfect, that is something I have found through research.Another kit I came across was the "Cocca Anseatica" by Euromodel. This company, apparently is the bees knees. After more research, I believe I would like to complete at least one more mainstream kit before looking at them. OMG, I've written a book. Cheers guys, look forward to it all. flyingdutchman attached the following image(s):

Welcome to the forum. Your build looks very neat and tidy, well done so far. Just one thing, if you resize your pictures to a width of 660 pixels they will appear on the forum as pics and not downloads. Keep up the good work and enjoy.
