Hello

Could someone please clarify if there were two machine guns fitted to both wings
(as supplied with this model) as I haven't seen any photos to suggest there were?

Thank you.

Regards.

Alan

Hello Alan,

The first production examples of the Spitfire Mk V (Mk Va) had four Browning .303 machine guns in each wing (eight in total), after the 94th example, it became the Spitfire Mk Vb and had two Browning .303 machine guns fitted outboard in each wing with a Hispano 20mm cannon fitted inboard (four .303 machine guns and two 20mm cannon in total) and the later Mk Vc, which had the stronger 'C' wing could accomodate either of the two layouts I've just stated above or it could also be fitted with four 20mm cannons, by leaving out the .303 machine guns?

To clarify, if you're building a Mk Vb then in each wing you should have two .303 machine guns outboard and a 20mm cannon inboard?

Hope that helps?

Kev
