Hi well done nem, that a monster of a build you let yourself in for eh. Thanks for the video jase, if mine turns out half that good I'd be happy. Anyhow am making bit of progress on this.made 2 more trucks.and started painting some the bits me got.as got no where to spray now it will all have to be done by hand. And it's taking ages to paint what I got. So its a bit in the rough at places. But if I waited till finish owt on this updates would be a long time apart. My instructions say it field grey. And give tamiya equivalent of XF 22, which is actually RLM grey, not sure this right or not.but ill go with it anyway. Cheers mick.

Looks superb Mick. Don't stress over the colour, by the time you have added washes and weathered, it will not look the same grey anyway. I go with what looks good to me, and that looks good!

Hi Mick.
I have just found your build diary and look forward to seeing it progress as I have this kit in my stash.
http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=17607
I am so looking forward to your build and to hear your thoughts on it.
The only reason I have not started it yet is that I have to much going on at the moment.
Best regards.
Mick

Hi thanks to all who looked in, and left comments much appreciated. Bit more progress on this I think. The base finally has all 112 sleepers painted, and just started the rails.it not them that take the time it's the 896 track clips that are a long job. I do bit on it at time.the 8 railway trucks have now bin built.the planked ones are 60 parts each.the simple plain ones are still 42 parts each. Still being painted in there basic grey.the 4 girder platforms are built.and made start on main girder for better discription. Glued it together an in process of filling in the gap all round it.photos can be Lil difficult because of size.the assemblys are not glued together yet as will need the main girder complete to get it all in line. And will need to be weathered an decals applied before I do as access to it will be impossible if glued together at this stage. All though it's very repetative at the moment I'm really enjoying this one.cheers mick.

Fantastic work Mick. I can imagine how tedious it was doing all those rail clips

I was wondering what finish you were going to do with the rails? I work on the railways and if it's any help rails are often a rusty colour with just the railhead being a steel colour.

Hi thanks for looking in, and comments left much appreciated. Dave that's what will be doing with rails.there being painted humbrol 113 rust at the moment, then got humbrol polished steel for tops of rails. 27003. Might need dry brush with bit of silver on top of that.as not used polished steel before so ill need to see what it looks like after that first. Phil you will not regret this kit I'm impressed with it.and will build into an impressive display piece on its own.though I'm thinking of bit of dio at the moment.bit of railway yard in front of it with few vehicles, and figures.so shows off its true size. As regards to display it will go into a vivarium, ones eh keep reptiles in.I have 3 mobile model wrecking units here (also known as cats) so the vivarium option keeps them off.and keeps the dust off to. I put pic up of vivarium. Cheers mick.

I like the sound of putting it in a Vivarium.

How long do you think it will take to complete the build?

Hi dave, wish I knew, a lot depends on how busy work gets. My moddeling time varies from week to week. Some weeks it's all work an no play unfortunately. I hope to do the railway gun by Xmas. The dio part is not as yet planned, so that part could be anything. Cheers mick.

Definitely a major operation on your hands Mick, think mine will stay in the stash a little while longer whilst I pluck up the courage to start it.
