Bridge 1

The bridge was removed from the sprue and cleaned up, it was as this point I realised it wasn't quite the right shape and discovered that there were two bridges in the box. The correct bridge was then cleaned up and the plastic window molding removed.

Picture 1

The top section of the bridge was cleaned up and the PE for the windows and walls added to the bridge base.

Picture 2

PE details were then added to the top section, there is still several pieces to add.

Picture 3

Top and bottom sections were test fitted.

Picture 4

This platform connects the back of the bridge to the first cooling tower

Lovely job so Michael.

I've just looked back at some of older pictures and what jumped out at me was the amount of clean up you have to do, there's certainly a lot of flash on some of those sprues

Well impressed with how you are using the etch on this build.

So easy at these tiny scales to overdo the glue but not a bit of that in your build. Very skilled bit of building.
Happy Modelling

Time for another update, I'll have to pick up the pace a bitif I'm going to finish before the December deadline.

38 Mk.28 Twin Guns

I removed all the pieces and cleaned them up.

Picture 1

The barrels of the guns were removed and replaced with brass.

Picture 2

Truly quality instructions on the left side it tells me to glue the gun in place and on the right it tells me not to glue the axle so it could pivot.

Picture 3

The sides were glued in place the fit was quite poor.

Picture 4

The gaps were filled with liquid green stuff and the bottoms filed down.

Picture 5

Finally I added the remaining pieces of etch.

Time for a update, most of work has been painting the sub assemblies.

Transfers

Before I could progress with further assembly of the ship I had to apply transfers to the hull, deck and island. Without doubt the transfers provided are the worse I have ever encountered. A lot of the transfers simply broke into pieces, parts simply would not separate from the backing paper. Luckily the helipad transfer came off with just a slight tear. Because I lost most of the red stripes for the deck I had to improvise. I attached double sided tape to some white paper then painted it with the same red that I used on the hull. This was cut to length and place on the deck.

Picture 1

Assembly

The instructions call for the whole island to be completed before it is added to the hull. I decided because of the etch and rather poor fit I needed to attach it before I did any further work on it. After a test fitting I found that the deck was sagging in the centre. I added wood supports then attached and clamped two pieces together.

Deck detail

There was quite a lot of etch railings to add. I still have some elements to add such as ladders.
