Hello from East Texas. New here, just subscribed to the Millennium Falcon and also the Sovereign of the Seas. Since the Falcon model is 25 months, I wanted something shorter and the ship looked quite involved so that will be a fun challenge. Also first month was free on the ship and it's a 12 month sub so that helps (was torn between doing it and one of the train models, but figure that can follow later), and I figure there will be more detailed work on the Millennium in the 2nd year as I get into more painting and weathering then. I've done a lot of larger scale models in the past, mostly RC models like Top Flite kits for model RC's, and a Dumas boat kit that had poor directions, 100's of plastics models when younger.

Looking forward to getting into these, sharing the experience with others along the way, and learning a lot from others on here. I see a lot of people collecting all the issues before starting, guess it is just preference but part of what attracted me to these are the subscriptions as I can work on it at a pace and have something to look forward to.

Welcome to the forum infidex,
I am forum support for USA so let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I like the monthly option too.It makes the models a bit less daunting by breaking down the construction. There are tons of people on here that can help with any build questions or modeling questions in general.

I hope you will consider posting a build diary on the forum

Regards

Carl

Welcome aboard, you've certainly come to the right place if you need help or advice on any of your builds... The SOTS is stunning and a lot of fun to put together, she's a challenging but very rewarding build.... Good luck and look forward to seeing some of your progress...

Welcome to the forum and great choices to get you stared.

I'm also doing the C57 train build myself and can say it's an amazing kit, as I understand it, it is much like the D51 with the exception that you don't need to paint the C57.

If you do decide to go with one of them I'm sure you will be very happy with it

Welcome to The forum. I have been doing the Falcon build for the last year and it is an amazing model. I also picked up the SOTS recently and it definitely looks to be a challenging build. Lots of great builds here to give you inspiration. Good luck and hope to see some of your work on the forum.

Hi

Sounds like you have decided on 2 very good models and very different ones at that.

Got a little way into my SoTS but so many orojects to do.

Atvthe weekend i started reading through sone of the magazines that come with the sots and have to say they are fantastic in their own right.

The build instructions are so well thought out you will have a great time building this one.
Happy Modelling

Thanks everyone for the welcome, I actually got my first pack in the mail today for the Falcon, bolted some frame together and carefully planning my details on what I'm going to do with some of the parts. Lot's of time to think, I expect the Sovereign to show up tomorrow as I got a shipping notice today and looks like 1 day from notice to receive based on speed of the Falcon arriving. I jumped on the GT500 too, looked like a simple yet fun build, so I'll have 3 going at once (whoo!). Will do build diaries on them all, started the Falcon one as a placeholder tonight. Great community here!
