I have a question that may be obvious but I’m missing it as usual. It concerns the fitting of the bulwark caps in issue 60. The 2mm x 8mm length sits between the fore and aft bulwarks overhanging the planks by 1mm. That is fine. Then an off cut is used for the end of bulwark but does this overhang the planks or the inside or both or neither? In other words should this be smoothed down to fit?
Similarly with the cap on that bulwark that then runs up to the cabin, with the cut out where the poop deck begins. Does this overhang the bulwark on top or not, if so where?
Thanks as ever guys.

Hi John, if you look closely at the pics in the official build log for the Victory (link below) you can see that the caps overhang the bulwarks by the same amount along the whole length of the ship in these areas. http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=2255
Hope this helps Graeme

Hi John, The small upright you are referring to overhangs on both the inside and outside of the bulwark. The cap on the bulwark running up to the cabin also overhangs on both the inside and outside. If you have a good look at stage 60 of the official video build I think everything will be a lot clearer for you, it shows the fitting of the caps in detail. If you’re still unsure then please get back to me. https://www.youtube.com/...u2T7tQIBv4&index=28

Thanks guys. I have watched the video many times and seen the diary but it doesn't seem that clear to me.
So essentially what you are saying is that the caps and uprights both overhang inside and out.
Just realised the same question occurs with the fore bulwark cap which is 2mm x 12mm.

Thank Graeme.
Any thoughts on the fore caps?

Hi John The fore caps overhang the outside of the bulwarks by 1.5mm. The port and starboard caps also overhang at the aft end (quarterdeck) by 1mm. The last couple of paragraphs in the official build for issue 60 describe the process well and the last couple of photo's show how they should sit. Graeme

Thanks again Graeme.
Yes. I got those positions. I was thinking about the port ans starboard caps and their position relative to the inside and outside of their respective bulwarks.

Hi John, there is no set overhang on the port and starboard caps as the bulwarks curve at the bow and the caps are straight. On my build I have a 1mm outside overhang at the point of maximum beam but the overhang is greater both fore and aft of this widest point, see pic below. Hope this helps Graeme pemberg attached the following image(s):
