You only have 7 planks from the looks of it,an 8th needs to be shaped & fitted.

Fozy...Have you sanded the last frame back until it is exactly level with the false keel? I had the same problem an could only fit seven planks until I found the the last frame was not sanded back enough...looking good so far...

Thanks for that, yes the last frame is sanded back so ill cut down a plank to fit that gap.

Ive been tyining with ideas of how to spruce up the borining looking stand for this model. This is my forst go.




Im not overly sure though, what are you thoughts on it please. One thing i have thought about is planking the front, then varnishining it and doing the wroding in more plankining on top with a different coulur stain.

Guys your opinions on this would be truly appreciated.

Been extremly slow on my build due to not being at home. Only just got up to row 11 of the planking.
As that is my last row at the front, those that need bending, i should get more done now. Just waiting for the last ones to dry before final shaping and fixining in place.

Another slow weekend on the build. Ive now finished upto row 12 of the planking.





I have mar4ked out the second row of gun ports and started the shaping of the rear now.





I do how ever a questions about 2 of the gun ports.

It says mark them 4.5mm away from the ribs. But looking at the picture of there placement on pages 10-11 in issue27, looking at the port by rib 14 it is right up against the rib.
Were do i cut this one out.

Also the one by frame 15, after reading, do i cut this one out just 2.5mm away from the rib?

Any while i wait for the cannon supports to dry, i cut out the 2 front ports and leaving it for now.



Well thats it for this week, cant wait untill i go on leave on friday, 2 weeks of building comming up i hope.

Well let me first say that i hope every one on this forum has had a lovely Christmas and that you all got what you wanted.

Well my next parts finally arrived on Christmas eve so ive been working on it since then and ive just finished the plankining up to issue 28.





I actully thought everything was goining fine untill i marked out the upper row of gun ports and that infamous rib 15 finally struck for me. I knew it was slightly out of shape but not as much as when i marked the 2 gun ports nearest the bow and found them well out.





Without ripping the whole of the planking off, which i dont want to do do you think it will look wrong to cut the ports out slightl;y forward of the lower ones or is there another way rond this which does not involve starting again.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi fozy, move it forward cos thats where it should be, the lower deck gun ports are not in line on the real victory with the top ones, there isn`t a lot of difference between them but never the less they are not in line, and luckily the one thats the most out is the one you need to move it scales in at about 3 mm forward of the bottom one.without drawings of this build I cant say if it will affect anything else, but cant see what could go wrong.
The drawing shows the gun ports, the red line shows the difference, but only alter the one you have to, and stick as close to the tomicks build as possible
