Well, here comes the first snag from modifying the interior hold. Attached is a page from the instructions for issue 89, and for those of use who have added lighting to the floor, photo etch and added greeblies beneath the hatch, there could be some more modding to come. Until the parts are received, it's difficult to tell exactly what will need to be done, but it will definitely interfere with the way the hold is secured to the bottom frame. This is gonna be fun. Some creative retro-fitting. See attached photo.

Don't worry... I've got a replacement in the works that will solve that problem! :)

Well, here's something else on the side I've been working on. Since it's getting so close to the Falcon being complete (only 2 more months) WOOHOO!! I've been working on my table for display.

I started by purchasing the Lerhamn kitchen table from Ikea.

I also purchased an in dash LCD display, a media player and a little bar speaker.

To start, I needed to cut the legs down about 1.5" in length. This will allow it to pass through a doorway once I've attached my spacer and mirrored top.

So the first thing before attaching the legs is cut out a hole in the table for the LCD display.

After getting the LCD ready to install, I mounted the LCD, media player and speaker in place as well.

And wired it up, per my diagram I did. It helps.

I then attached the legs.

I also want a lower shelf, so I purchased an additional table top, notched the corners to fit inside the legs....

and secured some brackets on the legs to support the shelf

And here we have an almost completed display table. The LCD will show video of the Falcon build which I've posted on my Youtube channel. My plan now, is to get a plexi black mirrored top that is raised about 3/4". I purchased a strip of red LED, which will be set inside and create a glow around the whole table under the mirrored top. See my concept on my first post. Then a plexi case to cover the model for display.

The monitor can be pushed back inside the table when not in use.

And the almost completed model to get a scale reference of the table.

I think there's enough room around the Falcon that I may put my AT-ST, Y-Wing, A-Wing and Snow Speeder on the table as well. 1 in each corner. And I'm planning on lighting the 3 wing ships as well. We'll see though.

Very creative and an amazing concept! I just bought mine today. Can't wait. I will be reviewing your photos more later for sure.

I want one of these for my build room.

Only 100 ever made. #1 of 100 is for auction. Hologram and NFC/RFID TAG Certificate of Authentication. Read the RFID tag with your Android smart phone. Very cool.

I also want to have some sort of plaque on the side of the table as well. Been waiting to see if there's anything that comes with the model. If not, I'll have to do some hunting around. But that one on Ebay is pretty cool.

Quick update as to where I am. I am up through issue 88, and 89-92 should be in this week. Sooooo close to the end.

Anyway, I'm not gonna go into detail as to how I painted them, but here's the recesses for both the upper hull and mandibles. Mostly dry brushing in layers and some pastels.

And my mandibles are ready to be painted.

My friend Paul won that on eBay and the guy ended up sending him this dinky little etched acrylic lamp with the Falcon on it. It looked good but not what he wanted. Turns out the guy that is selling that wants like $3000 for those big aluminum plates with the details etched on it. And if he doesn't get that amount in the eBay listing he ends up refunding the money. Pretty lame if you ask me. If you didn't pay $3000 for it, be prepared for a disappointment in the mail my friend.

When I saw in the description it was 4' wide, I decided against it right then. Way to big.

Yeah... after he bought it and got the little lamp as a replacement (he won the eBay bid for like $30) we found out they... the guy was expecting the bids to get up to at least $3000. We found his site online here... I don't think he'll ever sell any at that price thou! http://www.millenniumfal...6-a058-91b6-3d6448d67f4e

They have a X-Wing one as well. I may pick that one up just in case DeAg does make an X-Wing in the future.

Hmmm. Just an observation.

Just saw issue 94. At this point, it's attaching the side pieces to the Falcon. Of course, like the mandibles, the frame is screwed to the top and bottom hull, but then the side panels are to be glued to the side framework. The ISSUE... for those of us who have gone all out doing lights... if anything were to happen where a light went out or something, we would not be able to take the Falcon apart to access and fix if the side panels are glued on. Once glued on, the side framework cannot be access to unscrew the top to access.

My one thought at this point is to get tiny magnets and attach them to the side panels and not actually glue them in place. Kind of like the upper hull center piece, drill a tiny hole on the backside of the side piece (not all the way through obviously) and glue in a tiny magnet that would grab on to the metal frame to hold in place. While the lugs fit rather snuggly into the metal frame, I just don't know that that's enough.

While I don't anticipate lights burning out since they're LED and should last hundreds if not thousands of hours, and in reality, the Falcon will rarely actually be turned on (for me anyway), it is something to think about to be able to do repairs.
