Wow, that's a of,hand wheels.

As tedious as it must have been to fit them all its nice to see that they took the effort with the extra detail when they could so easily have had pre molded ugly looking hand wheels

Hi Mick.
You are doing a fantastic job. I just wanted to ask you what colour you were spraying it as in the colour pamphlet it says field grey which was the colour of German uniforms or colouring it German grey which was the colour of machinery.
I only ask because I am not sure which colour to use when I start mine.
Any help on this subject would be very much appreciated.
Thanks and best regards.

Hi mark, a more detailed of how I paint this.first of all I have no where to spray anymore, so this is all hand painted.which will give different shade to spraying.I start by painting it matt black. Then with thinned down xf 22, about 30% thinners. I give it several coats of the grey. In places the black will show through, which is what I want. My preshading if you like.but if u use say grey primer you will get a different shade of the grey again. Black will make the grey darker. But by time I add washes and weathering.it be different shade again. Think the thing is there is no deffinate shade of grey for this.one's I have seen on u tube are different grey to mine.and german grey could be blue tint or green tint.and anything in between. So if you like the colour your using use it. We are all different in what we like and don't like which is what makes this hobby so great.cheers mick.

Hi Mick.
Thanks for the help as it was sunday morning and I was still still half asleep.
I just opened the box and went through mine again. Drooling as I went.
I really would like to start building this great kit but as I said earlier I have to many things on the go at once.
Thanks for your help once again and I look forward to more of your build.
Best regards.

Looks great mick! i think i would lean more towards the panzer grey than the field grey Mark as this was more for= tarps ,field kit.... etc as you say though there`s a lot of choice to weather etc and if your happy with the colour thats what matter`s......regards Phil

Hi thought I'd put pic up of difference between weathered section an plain section.weathering is not my strong point, just tend to go with the flow of it.cheers mick.

Hi dave, I just try to keep it simple at the moment as weathering is new to me.so far it just dry brushed with 3 mixed shades of original colour, by just adding white.then a very thin wash of vallejo 70.872 marron chocolate. Needs further pin wash in corners.and few scrapes on corners.with steel colour. Very few though. I decided ill add no rust to this.if I do anything different ill put it in an update.cheers mick.

Nicely done with the weathering Mick, really adds to the overall finish. If you look at grey when it fades and weathers in you can also find hints of purples and blues, hope you don't mind the input?BigGrin

If you look at this model of the Leopold, you can see where there a very subtle shades of purple and blue. Superb effect if you can get it right.

Hi thanks for all who looked in and left comments, much appreciated. I finished building one of the main girders.and bin playing about weathering a truck. Won't be to everyone's taste but I'm happy with it as is.the whole process is as follows.
1.paint truck matt black.tamiya XF 1
2.paint the truck rlm tamiya XF 22
3.mix 3 shades of base grey with white tamiya again.getting lighter each shade apply in direction of rainfall ie top to bottom.
4.apply all over thin wash of vallejo 70.872 chocolate brown all over.
5.mix tamiya X16 purple with tamiya flat base X21 50/50, thin it down a lot, and apply wash to upper parts of bodywork. Working it in to leave faint stain.
6.apply chocolate brown pin wash to to edges an any Lil hollows to bring out the detail.
7.using tamiya chrome silver X11, mixed 50/50 with tamiya german grey.just like it toned down a bit.dry brush extreme edges.tops of bolts.wear on handles etc. And the wheel rims.
8.the wooden planks first painted with humbrol matt 186 wood, then dry brushed with tamiya XF 49 khaki, and tamiya XF 60 dark yellow. Then a thin wash of vallejo 302 dark rust.anyhow at the process I used, and I like me final result.we all have our own ways to weather. But to play with it is fun.cheers mick. BigGrin
