having done my fair share of plastic models, i was wondering if anyone could list all the paint colours needed for the Yamato build so i can buy them and have them ready when i start the model ( i hate having to buy paint piecemeal  ). Thanks in advance

Depends on what manufacturer/type of paint/finish you want....
Tamiya list the following acrylic shades:
XF19 Hull red
XF75 IJN Kure Grey
XF11 JN Green - aircraft
XF1 matt black
White Ensign Models (WEM) also do some matches:
IJN02 Kure grey
IJN11 antifoul red
