Thank you all for looking in and your comments.
Carl the fit is not bad but there are no locating pins, so glue has to be carefully done as moving the parts to line them up is a must. Plenty of clean up to do once dry to remove seams.
Kev and birdaj2, yes its a Russian figure, a tanker. It was perfect for this build being so relaxed, and also the uniform is spot on.

I have finished the figure. I had to shorten his neck, he looked like one of those boxing robots who's heads popped up! Where his hand is on his hip is a gap, there should be a holster there, but I am going to replace it with an oily cloth. I will think of something for the other hand. I will remove the star from his belt buckle and you would never know his origins!!
The smoke stack has also been trimmed back and now looks functional and not fancy. The piston block guides have been fitted and the seams filed off. As you all know until the first coat of primer goes on I wont know if any small adjustments are needed, same with the figure.

Some more filling and sanding done, front axle is complete and the steering gear is fully functional. More of the cylinder block is done. The figure gives an idea of how big the engine is.

Looking very nice indeed.

Especially like the detail on the figure as that face looks very sharply moulded and should paint upnreally well.
Happy Modelling

Nice progress Daran and looking really good!!

If you are looking for something to put in the left hand of the figure, his pose is perfect to just drill a small hole between his first two fingers, add a small piece of stretched sprue and paint it to look like a cigarette? Job done!!

I have made some more progress on the engine. Some valves have been fitted to the cylinder block along with some pipework, and I have started on the crank and connecting rods, which by the way, is a real pain in the, anywho, I digress!!LOL I got a nice parcel from Mr Postie today, the 'booty' of this build, a cracking Howitzer!Drool I have never built anything by Merit, but judging on the box and its contents, it looks rather nice!Love LOL I will do a parts review later on.

I had a good look through the parts for the gun and I am impressed! Excellent detail and nicely cast. Some pe parts as well. I jumped ahead in the construction to assemble the barrel. Being as I am filling and sanding parts on the engine it seemed a good idea to get the barrel out of the way.

Hi all and thanks for looking in and your comments. The barrel has been sanded back and a couple of coats of primer put on to show up any defects I missed. It will be flatted back again and that will be all until it is needed. I have now started the build proper, and the outriggers have been started.
