When Britain faced invasion at the height of the “Battle of Britain”, the former Basutoland raised the funds to purchase two Squadrons of Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft for the defence of Britain.
In recognition and as a thank-you, a 1:1 scale replica Spitfire Mk.Vb has been built which is to be mounted in flying attitude and in celebration of the Lesotho 50th Anniversary of independence.
