But I think you may find if you look into it that the Allied forces were functioning on amphetamines or speed not quite as addictive as crystal meth but still gave our tired forces the edge they needed to counter the meth addicts they were fighting.
The scary thing is the people in charge were handing out pills to both sides that could literally turn both into drug induced super soldiers.
The German Blitzkrieg plan for western europe was based on the use of all forces being high on meth for a week or more to enable them to advance without rest until victory was achieved.. The only reason they stopped was because of the one thing that can stop every army that has ever advanced supply.
The only problem that was unseen by the German army was supply to fast advancing troops and probably fueled by the belief that' this wont work but if it goes we will be chasing them '. The majority of all German supply during this period and up to the end of the war was all horse drawn and slow unlike the American forces 'Red Ball Express' that was a non stop truck supply convoy that did at times keep the advance going. But even the allied supply although well worked out could at times not keep up with fast advances.
