Wings the inner underside of the wings which is left open with the ribs showing, I have yet to see a spitfire like this.
has anyone actually covered the open place with aluminium sheeting which I think would look much better, just a thought, if so how would you finish the trailing edge where the upper and lower sheets meet. ron

This what you mean, if so, the flap ribs are visible when the inner flaps are open..

Hi Ron

I'm leaving mine in the open fixed position.

Regards.

The flaps on a Spitfire are normally kept in the closed position when stationary on the ground, though that's not to say that they would never be seen down, otherwise how would any airframe maintenance ever be done? My own opinion is that though it's technically incorrect to have them down this is at the end of the day, just a model, whereby a little artistic licence can be allowed in an effort to show the actual workings of a model, so it can be neither correct nor incorrect and should be left entirely to the modellers' own preference?

Of course, the other thing to consider here is if the model is to be displayed on the stand provided whereby it is assumed to be in flight, then it would be perfectly correct to have the flaps down, as if coming in to land? At the end of the day all models are individual to the builder and it is his prerogative to display it exactly how he wishes. Cool ThumpUp

Just my thoughts and hope that helps?
