So back on the engine. Started to assemble the crank, connecting rods and pistons. For those eagle eyed viewers you may have noticed one of the crank weights is in resin.BigGrin Well this is where I give a massive thank you to Andy Purchase who took time out to cast me a couple after I had a bit of a mishap with one of them!Blushing BigGrin As you can see it is spot on and fits a treat!BigGrin

Wonderful update and you are so lucky to be working on one of these models as i have been looking for one and unless the lottery comes up tonight (fat chance) no way on the second hand prices people want.

Really interested in this one as my late grandfather was in the artillery in ww1 so this has a special interest to me.

Hope it continues to go well.
Happy Modelling

Nice work Daran, these old kits can sometimes be a pain to put together with any accuracy, but you're doing a good job with it, well done. ThumpUp

It looks like there are some raised pipes moulded onto the side of the boiler and running up towards the valve assembly? If they are indeed meant to be pipes, will you be shaving them off and replacing with wire for better effect?

Looking good mate. ThumpUp

Nem,

Regarding those molded on boiler tubes, do it if you can, they stand out. It was really easy for me but I used too thin of a wire on mine so check the pictures Mr. T has posted for us.

You have it so easy on the painting - All Olive Drab!!Cool

Hi all and thanks for looking in and the comments. Yes I am going to replace them, I ordered a batch of different diameter wire as it will come in handy for other builds.BigGrin BigGrin

I am nearly at the point where I need to add primer. Everything you see in the pictures is all a dry fit test. I will strip it down to paint as a lot of it can't be done in one piece, like the drive gears, crank shaft and fire box. Some pipes have not been fitted yet and will need painting separately and adding afterwards. The supports for the roof will be added before priming and some other mods need doing as well, the holes in the flywheel need filling, the roof need shortening and planks added to the inside, pipes need replacing and the roof top needs some attention. But so far all is going well and its starting to look like a traction engine!BigGrin
