Finally I added the box of jars in to the top of the frame.I have not attached this permanently yet because I dont want to damage it when fitting the time rings and central ball.

Next step is to assemble the time rings.I have hit a major snag because of shrinkage of the resin parts. The parts that attach the glass petals to the time rings are too short.I think I may have a solution and involves my 3d printer!!

Moving on to the time rings. There is a central support for the main ring.it is slightly smaller than the ring itself so I will use some copper strips to bridge the gap between the support and the inside of the ring.

When I test fitted the secondary ring, however, I ran into a bigger problem. The supports for the glass petals are supposed to attach to the central ring but as you can see they are all too shortCursing Cursing Cursing.I would need to add material to the end of each support to get them to reach the central ring. But instead I am going to 3d print a ring which will fit onto the outside of the central ring (like a tire on a wheel) to close the gap.Once I have one ring the right diameter I will make a mold and cast 4 new rings to solve the problem (there are 2 rings at the upper and lower ends of the time rings).

BigGrin Looking good, I know some resins can shrink over time but I have never known resin parts shrink that much. Maybe the guy who cast the kit needs to start using a better resin compound to prevent itCool

So I made a circle with the 3d design software that came with the printer and printed it last night.Tonight I will fit the wheel into it and then use that as a master to cast 4 new wheels.

The 3D printer saved me a lot of hassle here.

3D printer to the rescue BigGrin

Would that gap have been from shrinkage or perhaps poorly made parts, it just seems a lot of shrinkage from the resin Blink

Cheers Dave,
I dont really know what the issue was for sure. The ring fit perfectly over the wheel and I poured a mold for it.Hopefully it should have set by tonight and I cant start casting the 4 wheels.

I have now attached the upper and lower time rings.I test fitted the assembly onto the platform.I will have to figure out the exact angle the assembly needs to be at to avoid hitting anything.

The next step is to sand these parts and paint them and then work on the petals (36 of them) that attach to the rings. Then I have to build the chair and the computer and it is done.
