Mr. T posted in his build diary:
"I have set the hull framework into a simple keel jig. If you have opted not to use a keel jig, then you must ensure that the keel runs in true alignment and not curve, and remember that the frames must be fully seated into their slots in the keel, are set at 90 degrees to it."
I am a bit confused regarding the keel jig. I just received my 2nd monthly shipment of 12, up to the mid-twenties in issues. I have searched the historical posts on this site and there are several references to instructions in issue 3 regarding how to make the keel jig to ensure proper alignment.
The issues that I have received thus far (US version) do not have any information or make any references to the use or manufacturing of a hull jig. they do show a picture of the use of one in issue 4.
Am I missing something? Did the instructions or US version change since the original posts from 2012? Is a keel jig no longer necessary to support this build?
This is my first model ship build and want to make sure that the proper process is followed. Any perspective on making or using the keel jig would be appreciated. Cheers!

A keel jig is recommended for all period ship builds.
The "how to make" for the SotS keel jig is shown at post #1 here http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=20425 along with other recommendations for keel jigs.

I would add that I usually use MDF for the baseboard since it is usually very flat.

Having built these ships I would have to say I wouldn't contemplate trying to build them without securing the keel into a build jig. So easy for the keel to be pulled out of alignment through the stresses of planking or to induce a twist, both can spell disaster on any build.....
