Thanks to all who have looked in.

Cool Cool Cool Cool

I`m on a holiday at home time from work,so it`s update time.BigGrin

I left with the outer open deck sections part built and ships boats to be installed.

The completed sections are in the first pic, with the brass etch railings for each drying in my work room (to be added at a later date).

Whilst I`m waiting for things to set and/or dry, I will be diverting to other parts of this build as there`s lots of other things to be doing.

Three pics follow:

The first two parts of the island.

The above parts fitted together.

Three post mounted binoculars fitted to the first level.

What`s next?

Fit the railings to the open deck areas.
Clean up and paint Island base, then add railings to the lower deck, paint and add the next deck.

See you very soon.

Regards

Hi All, BigGrin

Thanks to all who have looked in.Cool

So here`s the next update:

I won`t show a pic every section of this update as a lot of it is just repetition.

Seven brass etch railings to be added to the open deck constructions. Two pics.

Then eight open deck sections are added to the inside of the hull (four each side).

Two open deck sections do not have railings, as a platform (with railings), ships boat and crane are to be added later to each side of the hull.

Then a final pic of one side of the hull. Detail will be hard to see as this is one big ship even at 1:350.Blink

LOL LOL LOL

The railings were a slight pain in the "you know where".

I used a metal primer from a rattle can and air sprayed the top coat.

That was the easy bit. Crying

Left them to dry overnight, to find that they needed a good clean up from overspray that had rounded all the internal corners.Blink

Done the clean-up with a very new, sharp scalpel and then glued in place.

The picture below shows the scale of these railings and the clean-up required. This one is for the bow lower open deck and has yet to be cleaned up and will be fitted soon.

What would we do without photo etch. It really adds a great level of detail to your model Derek like nothing else would.

Your certainly a dab hand at working with it that is for sure.

Happy Modelling

Shame about having to cleanup all the railings after spraying them, I can imagine how much of a nightmare that must have been. The finished result looks very nice though Cool

Got to love those photo etched railings. They look great but are a pain to Work with. This is coming together nicely. Great job

Thanks for all the interest and positive comments. Cool

I`m waiting some small deck sections and yet more railings to dry, before bringing the hull halves together, but in the mean time have spent some time making a start on the main cranes and deck guns.

The two main cranes have 16 parts each and the deck guns 5 parts each.

Here`s a quick pic of one of each.(Unpainted)
