Just another small update. I was a bit previous fitting the squares to the cannon ports made it too difficult to cut out the ports out after planking so I took them all out and will fit when the instructions say. I also jumped the gun with stage five a bit because I had some spare planks from a previous build and used those.

Hi guys

Just a small update eventually got my Pack 5 and have now completed it.

I did have a small problem with the brass supplied for the anchors every time I tried to bend it no matter how carefully it always snapped and there are only four strips issued with the kit. I did manage to source some 3 x 1mm brass strip of the internet which worked fine, in fact I have quite a bit left so if anybody struggles with the brass I could send you enough to do the four anchors just PM me. Anyway on with the build

Looking good, nice work.

I've heard about the brass problem from others, have not reached delivery 5 myself yet, but have found a local source for the appropriate strips.

When Chris posts his build for Stage 45, you'll notice that he omitted the brass straps and created a the more authentic look of wrought iron straps on the anchor stock. I believe he used thin plasticard strip and metallic black paint as per the attached photo..

Additional strip is being sent to all customers that have received Pack 5 and additional strip being added into "stock" Pack 5's.

I was going to go down the same route as my victory for the anchors and use thread for the straps but as the brass was supplied and in the instructions I stuck to them. I'm not that experienced a modeler yet to stray too far from the written instruction.

BigGrin Looking good Terry Cool one little tip is to drill a pilot hole for the cannons before closing up the hull just in case one falls out as you can still get to them . I had one fall out on the San Felipe and it was a so and so to get back in place Angry hope this helps rgd Martyn
