hello
i am currently on issue 61 and came across a problem.
i assembled the parts as instructed and per pictures in magazine, then decided to pull out the plan and compare the result to what is printed in plan. i found that crosstree is moved aprox 4mm towards front edge of fighting top in the plans, but in reality it is otherwise. moved those 4mm to the back edge. now, since i glued all the parts according to the instructions, which one should apply? should i take it apart and change the size of the cutout or should i just leave it? if i leave it as it is, last set of 1.5mm holes will go right through crosstree...
thank you

Hi Maaaslo,

First of all welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time with us. You have certainly come to the right place for any assistance you may need for your build.

In response to the observations you have outlined, I have looked at the Official Build, the Video Build, the printed instructions and of course your pics. What I see first of all is that nowhere in the printed instructions does it say to compare the fighting top to the diagram contained within the mast plan so obviously I didn't do a comparison either and as the ship is built I cannot carry out a comparison now. The printed instructions are very clear on how to construct this piece and provides all the dimensions necessary for its completion. These instructions are what I used and I didn't encounter any issues at all, everything worked out just fine.

Looking at your pics I cannot see anything obvious to say you have gone wrong, the only thing I can think of here is the instructions do say you may have to file the slots in the cross trees to get a good fit, by doing this there are likely to be some variations from one construction to another. I think it would be safe for you to position the drilled holes for the deadeyes ensuring they don't go through the crosstrees and make sure the spaces in the crosstrees are of a size to accommodate the masts. If you do this then I think you will find everything will work out just fine...

Hope this helps.

Regards

Alan
