Many thanks Marty, Walter and Ian.
You might find it doesn't take as long as you think, Walter. I used a 1mm drill but smaller may be more realistic. Break a cocktail strict in half and lightly tap in from the top after filling the holes with glue. Snip the tops and bottoms and then rub back. Once you get into a rhythm it's quite quick. Try it ion a few scraps first and see,

Kind regards, Garth Thanks Garth Yes is wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in the end but I am still puzzled as to how it happened. I really thought everything was Ok up to that point. I guess I'll never know now.

Probably the last update of the year and not terribly exciting. I have been knocking out the yards and booms covered in issues 70-81 and leaving the other parts of the ship for the time being. I had already finished the mizzen mast some time ago. I will continue with the main hull work next year from #74 onwards and really looking forward to getting back into her proper.Had a problem with one of the boom dowels which was bent. It’s come back a bit but I may need to soak it for a while before applying the weights again. Also, as I mentioned in a previous post a while ago, I didn’t like the copper wire for the footrope supports so I used a simple hangman’s noose wound 30 times. I know it’s going to be painted anyway but I think it looks more authentic.Plus, I didn’t like the silver thread supplied for the ‘natural’ ropes and there never seemed to be enough for my finger and thumbs so, I forked out for a supply of all the sizes used in brown and natural. Feels much more comfortable now not having to worry about how much I use. I also noticed that some of the holes in the blocks weren’t finished very well so I re-drilled these out using a 0.9 mm bit. Hopefully that will save me some angst later on.
And of course. label everything that moves. Anyway, Happy Christmas shipmates and I hope Santa brings you many and new exciting models to keep you in your man caves for the rest of the year. I think I will be ensconced here for the duration.
