Hiya, me again I have 2 planking questions. First off, I am building the launch so long, as a test run. It doesn't look TOO bad, especially considering this is my first build. How is the best way to bend the planking? I leave it in hot water and slowly work a bend through it. I saw some guy has a big wooden board and he adds nails in pre-made holes that cover the plank in roughly the shape he wants it bent, then leaves it over night to cool and set. That seems quite brilliant actually. Is the plank bender in the tool kit worth it for bending, and how the heck does it work lol? Secondly, I occasionally flip over to the Build Diary (which is on issue 45 just by the way). Currently the guy's (Tomick) build is almost completely planked already. He even made holes for the gun ports, and he has the floors set in as well. Is there a way to get all the cannons in? Can the flooring just be lifted off? Because it looks like that issue 45 has about 4 or 5 cannons so far, of the 100 or so from Victory. I'll be sure to annoy all you experienced builders as I start my build someday Francois

hi,and welcome, whoooooh slow down, bending the planks first, the launch planks will not need any treatment except running them over your fingers to set a bend, the victory planks well, that a different kettle of fish,no pun intended, their are many ways to this, and many explainations on here,so just trawl through the thread and have a look.as for the decks, you fix them as you go,the lower decks have dummy canons, which are fixed from outside, the upper decks have full canons 'bout 24 in all, some of us are saving them to do all together(assembly line like)just read the instructions carefully, then read them again, then any questions just ask away.hope you understand what you are getting yourself into and good luck.hope to see some pics on here soon Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hi Gan_Javi, and can I say welcome to the forum...I can only echo what Karl said, but I used nails placed in a board in a specific way to bend my planks (leaving them to cool off and dry naturally over night) but they were for the bow section of the main build only, you can't go wrong with following tips and advice posted by other fellow shipmates on this forum, but do follow Tomick's posts for help...enjoy your build Gan_Javi... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...
