And in other news, Uber just unleashed self-driving cars for the general public use in San Francisco.

Interesting times! The progress of AI-based technologies means that more and more of the (until now) human activities will be taken over by automatic devices. It might mean amazing improvements to the quality of life, but also that work as we know it might become a scarcity. It becomes quite obvious that the first industry to fall will be transportation, at least the human-driven kind.

How will we cope, as a humanity? Will we need to re-think economies and concepts like income, ownership, what it means to be a productive member of society? Maybe we won't have to deal with all this (although I'm pretty sure we will), but our kids won't have any other options.

I'm at the same time with awe of the speeding up progress, and a little bit afraid - not of the AI taking over, but of the human nature presented with the problem that the work-income-spending cycle might no longer work.

What do you think guys? What's in store for us?

Can`t see why you have to have a big garden. Confused

I live in a first floor flat.

Leave a window open, the drone pulls it shut with a piece of string on it`s way out. Job done.

Simples !!!

It emerged that Amazon's much-hyped first ever drone delivery was to the company's next door neighbour just 765 yards away (no wonder it only took 13 minutes) and you could have walked there faster!

Does it really matter? The first phone call was made by Alexander Graham Bell to his assistant just a room over. The first email sent by Ray Tomlinson was received on a second computer sitting on the same desk. It doesn't have to be a large distance to prove a concept, to run a successful test - as with everything we know, the progress is done in baby steps.

Probably someone laughed at Brothers Wright's first flight at a distance of 120 feet. It's been just a tad over 100 years ago...
