Hi everyone.

I'm new to model ship building so this will not only be my first big project, but also my first wooden model.

I've started with the launch now (in south africa that is about where we're at with the subscriptions). Now it doesn't look TOO bad considering this is the first time I'm doing this.

I decided to paint the whole model the regular colours so that is another hassle I'm getting used to...painting small pieces of wood.

Now, my question. When I paint it doesn't look all that...well, pretty. How is the best way to paint with accrylics so that it looks both nice, AND smooth? Without the brush strokes drying into it and have to sand it.

Please help this newbie :)

Regards,
Francois

Thin the paint down & use good quality brushes eg sable ones from windsor & newton..expensive but worth it for the better finish.

Hi Gan_Javi
You could also try using a cellulose sanding sealer as well. Paint on with brush and give a very light sanding when dry and you're ready to apply your paint/stain/varnish and it shouldn't then soak in.
I bought mine off E-bay for around £3.00 for a 250ml tin
Happy building
