To Tomick and Admin… A couple of questions please…? This as you can see from the attached pictures is my first build, and I am enjoying the hobby very much. All the help from your selves and the forum boys and girls is much appreciated. I am trying to stick to the natural wood look but have got to the stage of staining the wales, but decided to stain the gun ports first, which seems to have been a big mistake, as you can see. I days issue 43 it shows the wales being painted, but no mention of the gun ports. In one of the issues, it shows a close up of the gun ports, which looks like they have used the correct wood type. If I had realised what a mess the staining would look like, I should have colour stained the wood before, lining the gun ports. Finally, I would like to bring your attention to the first issue, page 9; stating different woods will be used in this build. hi Ian,yep large and clear, regards the staining of the gunports, they look fine to me,a bit orangy if you don't like redo them in a more reddy stain, suggest teak stain, which is a dark red/brown colour.as for the different wood in the build,well.....................................deag have moved the goal posts on several occations and that was one of them,a few of us have bought our own wood for different applications, deag say they have the right to alter specifications and is in the small print somewhere, this is solely designed for the novice, and the more experianced can do there mods and sods to there hearts content, and some of us stay on to help out where we can.now this is my opinion only and not speaking on behalf of anyone else.
