OK so a little project I have been working on over Christmas with 3 weeks off to kill, was going to be my entry but obviously it has to be the 1 January so this is now my testbed for my entry that I will start this year. The idea is to use not kit parts and bee totally made from scratch using mdf as a base structure covered in superfine mlliput as a finished medium with a lot of sculpting and cleaning up with emery cloth. I would say its abut 1/16 scale. The only other mediums will be ships rigging thread and wood for the bow and wire to strengthen the joints, with the base with looks like a rock being made from MDF and polyfiller painted in the same way as my last project. I started with a basic skull in mdf coated and roughly sculpted this will need a lot of finishing and cleaning later, next is the body with the head cut in and glued in place. This again is covered and sculpted waiting to be cleaned up. godan61 attached the following image(s):

Ok so here are the next shots. The legs I carved in 2 sections then wired and glued in position of what I wanted which was a run with 1 foot just touching the ground. The arms will get the same treatment and of course a wire framework for the tale, this agin all covered in superfine milliput and then a lot of sculpting sanding and wet and dry. The biggest issue has been the elongated nature of the torso and limbs compared to a human making it look disproportionate. And of course only 3 fingers and a thumb and the same with the feet.

So after intensive wet and dry treatment the figure is base coated so I can see if there are any blemishes or defects that need cleaning and re sprayin. The idea is then going to be a several coat approach. .Base coat spray . Base coat blue, paint in the eyes and lips. .Shading .Base strips . Outline strips .Total dry brushing , this will be to tone the stripes in. I am purposely leaving the hair off so as to enable all the paintwork to be achieved, it is the intention to use black milliput to crate this so as to avoid cutting in. necklaces will be made from 2 tone rigging thread coated in ova and twisted. godan61 attached the following image(s):

Interesting concept Godan and well executed - looks very much like one of those characters from the film 'Avatar'.

Thanks Kev, yes it is a Navi from avatar, Ive been pushing hard to complete this one whilst I am still on holiday and make a start on my entry. Regarding my entry I am probably going to look at an IKRAN (Banshee) from the film with a wingspan of about 20" Looking at using the same process as this but think the paint job is going to be a real challenge but it should give some real challenges but worth the risk.
