Hi Everyone,
Have justed started to fair my hull ribs and have hit a bit of an issue.
Am working on the bow end and have succeded in getting a nice curve around this area, a pre-bent plank sits quite nicely around it running from the hull. However,it is a mile away from sitting against rib 12, sits fine around all others but leaves a massive gap here.
Do I need to reduce rib 13 more? Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Wilfy

Hi Wilfy, yes, I ran into that problem but used some spare planking to pack out the area on rib 12 so that the planks ran level...hope this helps... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Hi Wilfy Its a while since I last looked in and i have been reading about your trials and tribulations with various ribs .This may not solve the problem but I have about 8 rows either side of the garboard strake to complete the planking and i found the best way was to test fit all planks around the bow and stern and treat each row individualy i have had to build up several ribs both bow and stern and fair for each plank its worth it in the long rub although it is time consuming but there is no great rush hope this helps

Hi Yorkie,
Thanks for comments & I think your right, packing & sanding as you go is probably easier than attenpting in one go there are so many descrepancies.
This atarted me thinking about the bulkheads & why supply them in 3 pieces obviously to extend the subscription! I feel this is why there are somany problems, they've redeigned from 1 piece to 3 & errors have crept in.
I'm not going to start a deabte about quality & price etc but as patient as I am it is grating on me, especially after reading the latest official build log & seeing planking over deck supports, nightmare waiting to happen!
I'm not going to give up, even though I have the Caldercraft kit under my bench, I see this as my apprenta'ship' to wooden ship modelling & what I learn through this build will almost certainly see me through any build that I partake in the future!
Thanks again & happy modelling.
Wilfy
