Just not good enough I agree, leave this with me I will investigate and get this cleared. Thank you Tomik please let us know what you find out, after all this waiting and finally getting the parts yesterday my son is devasted so would like to give him an idea on how long it will take to fix. If you request a replacemnt Issue 69 via c/s it should resolve the problem (if fault lies with the microphone board rather than something else or it be an assembly fault). Simply inform c/s that you have performed the checks and that you have spoken with me.

But responsibiliy of correct assembly lies with you, which I notice you have just discovered you had omitted the plastic washers which were instructed to be fitted. You must ensure that the build is in accordance with instructions, this is not something we have any control over.

Just to be clear on the above the washers are only to be fitted if he has issues balancing they are not mandatory.

Could we all try and diagnose the issue together, as several people are experiencing this I do wonder if it could be an issue in the instructions somewhere resulting in the same issue manifesting.
One area I am not clear on is the dip switch settings, book 18 is not with me as I am at work but I believe the last mention of the dip switches is setting them for the volume down test.
After the volume down test it does not say (I think) to reset them all to 0 (off) but I did as I assumed you would need to.
Can someone (some people must be reading this who have got him working?) whose is working confirm did you leave the dip switches in the volume down test position or did you reset them all to 0?

But thanks for the heads up and attempted fail at implying build issue.

Ok thanks, I will spend sometime this evening when I get home trying to fault find the situation. If I find anything usefull will update here, if not it's going to have to be a faulty part but hopefully not.

Instruction at the end of set up and test of of the TV card is to return all DIP switches to off. I notice that the red LED on top of the TV card remained on but the instructions say nothing about this. It went off when power switched off but came back on again when power turned on, I assume this is normal as card needs to be active when Robi Is. Voice recognition remains a problem in spite of checking all assembly instructions and cable connections and using various tone of voice. I would expect that the voice recognition hardware would be capable of recognising all regional accents in the UK at least for the words "YES" and "NO" without too much of a problem so suspect that some if not all issues are faulty. It would be nice to know if the manufacturer is looking into the problem. Alec Built: Bluenose, Arab Dhow, HMS Bounty, Hummer H1, D51, Spitfire,E type Jaguar. In Progress: HMS Victory, , Yamaha YZR-M1

Alec Its certainly not that all issues faulty, as previously mentioned Andy's Pack 18 was part of the same delivery that you received and his Robi operates as it should. Yes this is being investigated.

Yes this is being investigated. If Andy could get the video posted it would help, id like to hear the sort of pronounciatikn used to answer the yes no questions and the time to respond. Out of interest could anyone who has built and has a working English Robi comment here, would like to hear there experiences.

Same problem here with Robi's start up. We get as far as the first question and then nothing. His eyes are on and look like he is waiting for a responce. We have tried male and female voices, shouting, different accents, still nothing.
All TV tuner switches are in the down position as per the instructions.
Has anyone managed to get an English Robi working yet?
This is looking like one of several things, bad microphone board, software glitch or an incorrect instruction along the way.

Hi All
Lets clear a few things up the dip switches are just to set the TV remote and have no other function. The red light is there to aid in setting up this part of the build.
The magazine 'Living with Robi' gives all the information you need on how to talk to Robi, shouting at him is not the way to proceed.
If on start up he freezes or fails to react to your voice try switching him off and restarting.
I have received the same parts as all of you including the same chip as you all [it came from the same batch as yours] and my Robi works ok and the more he is used the better he gets with the voice recognition.
I have just posted a new video on Youtube showing me talking to Robi and him talking back please note Robi can do more than what is on the video.

DeAgostini are currently contacting the manufacturer and asking for a resolution to your problems as soon as we hear from them we will pass the information on to you so please be patient until we have a reply for you.Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

That's great thank you Andy, nice to see him working as he should.
Would be great to hear from someone who received their pack 18 this January and has him working.

Hi all I had an idea that may or may not help/work. I turned Robi on and had him pointing towards the speaker as the new video played and he started to do the same things as Robi in the video. I know this wont help with the start up mode but try it and see what happens Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

I have made some progress, i had to shout yes at point blank at the microphone, i got him through the initital questions i, when he would here the response his reaction was imediate with the next question. He is then started to respond fairly well to things such as Play Music.
He is now on charge so will see how he goes after a charge.
