I'm a superglue fan myself and used in the right places it's hard to beat...your fingertips look a lot like mine after using it the darn stuff gets everywhere, by the way how did you stop the thread from sticking to the drill bit???

I did not use anything, You just have to try a be a bit quick, I have thought about putting nail varnish remover on the drill before I wind the thread, that may or may not help it sticking,

I am now doing the Spritsail Yard, Much the same as before, In the Lathe, sanding down from 6mm to 4 mm.
But this time there is a 5mm end detail that has to be 2.5mm.

To achieve this, while the yard was in the lathe, I marked the 5 mm distance that needed to be reduced to 2.5 mm.
And with my fine saw I put a saw draft in to the wood to the rough depth. I also moved the saw left and right, this helped to reduce the wood to the rough size.

I finished of with a small strip of sandpaper to get it to the 2.5mm size required

Just a wee update, I am now nearly finished my 4th Yard, Fingers very sticky and coated in hard glue, see pictures.
Getting a little production line going, I feel it helps.

I have run out of 4mm x 2mm walnut for the strengtheners to the yards, so until I get some more, I have tapered the rest of the yards and prepared the blocks, rope walk supports etc.

Just a wee post to let you see how I fitted the foot rope supports,
I bored a small hole through the yards at the positions marked on the drawing, I used a thread puller to get the thread through the holes.

I glued the supports to the yards, making sure they are all alined and straight from one end of the yard to the other, I then let the glue set for a while, just to ensure the it was hard, and really set. I used a clothes peg to keep the supports vertical while the glue was drying.

As you can see they are pretty much all straight.

I then wrapped the thread round the yard, tied it off and trimmed the loose end.

Thanks for your support, getting on great guns just now,
The thread puller is a little tool for getting thread through small holes, I used to, and still do, put a little thin superglue on the bench, and drag the last inch of a bit of thread through it, and clean if off with my finger, this makes the end of the thread hard and easy to get through small holes.
But the thread puller does the same job without the mess.

I have now got the ship on the bench, this new workshop is really small compared to the last one I had, don't know how i am going to manage when I get the Bowsprit on.

There appears to be loads to be done on the boat before I start rigging, first thing i see is 3 missing cannons not fitted, will probably start there.

The boat is really dusty, I think i will wait till there is a breeze in the air, and take it outside and gently brush it down, the wind should take away most of the stour.
