Martyn

Been a little while since I looked in on your build (so many updates on the list they seem to drop off the bottom before I get around to seeing them).

Your detailing is wonderful and your painting of such small parts is fantastic. I can see this is going to be one brilliant model when finished.
Happy Modelling

BigGrin Thank you all for the brilliant comments Cool

Just started putting the carvings on the stern and what a cockupCursing I think Corel have never seen this ship in the flesh Angry how the hell they can say this was in cooperation with the vasa museum when they get so much wrong I do not know. The carvings are all the same and there should be six knights flanking the windows and Corel gives you two Confused only because the stern is twenty mm to narrow. The cannons are a joke and don't get me started on the photo copy instructions Angry . So have decided to put this ship on the back burner until I decide what to do with it Confused

Nothing worse than being unhappy, and being frustreted on a build, You can only do your best, with the kit your given.
Chin up, come back to it in a bit, I always find a couple of beers do the trick, lol

Sorry to hear that Martyn as you looked to be progressing nicely with it.

The accuracy problems could be to do with the fact that the Corel kit was designed many years ago based on Museum plans of the time which are now known to be inaccurate hence why they are no longer sold.

Came across this info from the Vasa Museum Director of Vasa Research "Frederick Hocker" who compiled the Vasa 1 book...

There are four wooden kits of Vasa on the market. The Corel, Mantua and Billings kits are all rather old, and were developed before the ship had been completely reconstructed, so they all have errors.
The closest overall is the Billings kit, in terms of hull shape, but the sculptures are plastic and much simplified. The Mantua kit has the best sculptures and fittings, but is larger and more expensive. The Corel kit has a reputation of being difficult to build.

DeAgostini of Italy have released a new Vasa kit, sold as monthly installments. We assisted in the development of this kit, and so it is much more accurate and buildable than the older kits. It is already available in Italy, and will be released in other markets soon. I can recommend it highly.

Cheers Mo I think I need a vat of beer LOL

I will put it aside for a while as at the moment I feel like throwing it in the bin . It's a real shame as this could be a really nice kit but it's let down by Corel cutting corners and the that will do attitude Mad
Still I have the Sol to get on with , ooh proper instructions that will make a change LOL

BigGrin Thanks Ian for the comments Cool

I have left it alone for a few days and I'm looking at it with fresh eyes Blink so have decided not to beat my self up over it as I know it will be not be historically accurate so will adapt some parts and leave the others alone Cool
Hopefully will post pics tomorrow

BigGrin Cheers for looking in Phil and Ken

A bit more of a update on the Wasa
I have painted the last of the carvings on the stern and have made some new windows as the part bin find from Corel would never have fitted in the space provide Confused . To give me a break from painting I have started fitting the bow peak and the capping to the top of the bulwarks Cool and also fitted some of the deck furniture. One thing Corel do supply are nice ladders Cool . Next job gluing the pinrails to the side of the bow peak and the sides of the bulwarks

Thanks for looking rgd Martyn

Hi Martyn
She might not be truly historically accurate, but I'm glad you decided to carry on with her. And you're making a great job of it, lots of fiddly paintwork but a great job non the less. Well done, and look forward to your next update.
Happy building
