Just wondered if you could please shed some light on the hatchways and spaces we are leaving when planking the next gun deck at the current issues?
What goes over the opening toward the stern of the ship?
The two in the middle of the ship -one is covered with a hatchway that will leave it unable to see down onto the middle gun deck? (the bigger one?).
The smaller one is a stairway and so some access may be seen onto the middle deck?
The beams will not be visible on any of the 3 openings?
Just wondered if you could clear it up for me so I can plan ahead! :)
Best wishes and thanks in advance!
Tom
I can only give you what I know to press.
Currently I have no info as to what is planned (if anything) for the stern deck opening of the upper deck.
The two large opening's of the central waist area of the upper deck will have a grates which run 3/4 of the lengh of each hole, and with a stairs leading down to the middle deck.
With both sets of stairs/grates in place there will be little or nothing to view on the middle deck via the stairwell or thru the grating holes; though you could if you so choose, deck the middle deck directly beneath these two holes, though very little if anything will be seen of it.
The beams which currently span the two openings of the central waist area will be cut away (at 49) in readiness for the two central gratings, (gratings are made at 48).
Two very small grating's are located just aft of the main mast, though no holes are cut for these because it will not be possible to view into these gratings.
