Hi everyone,
So recently I restarted building again after a break of a few years. I only built two models before. AL's Viking ship and Swift. Both of those I only covered with clear Tamiya Acrylic.
I don't plan on painting the HMS Victory cross section, maybe just staining it light and dark in place of the paints.
My question, what would you all suggest is the best way to cover/seal the unstained sections? Those which only have the limewood showing for instance.
And out of curiosity, what would you substitute the yellow and black paints with? Which stain colours?
Thank you,
Gan

Hi This link may help on the wood stain, they have yellow and black. https://www.flooringsupp...Rl7Cc99ECFY8Q0wod2kEIwA
for the natural wood a matt varnish is best, you could try this product or any of the model brand varnish. http://www.diy.com/depar...ish-250ml/176041_BQ.prd

Thanks Jase.
I found some sealant to mix with my concentrated oak stain.
I am curious, parts like for instance the pump well house at the very bottom. It has oak veneer around it. Should I paint that with a clear sealant on the outside, or would the wood be fine being "naked"?

Will any clear matt varnish do? What do you usually use?

Hi I tend prefer Vallejo Polyurethane Varnish, you get a good finish, other acrylic varnishes can live a milky residue if your not careful Jason “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
