Being an ardent Gerry Anderson fan, this one has been on the back burner for a long time.
It will be 12" long when finished.
I now wish I'd made it just a bit bigger, maybe 14" - 15".

The masters for the parts have been made by myself and a friend with a lathe - I don't have one. (yet)
The masters were quite easy to make as Fireball is actually just a lot of simple shapes stuck together.

The master for the front - Fireball Junior - is still being made so the whole thing won't be completely finished for a while.
I've cast several sets of parts as 'spares' and also so that the first build can be done as a kind of test run where I can pick up faults and errors.
The next model should be the 'proper' one.

I drew up the decals and printed them myself.

Hope you like it.

Roy.

Thanks Steve.

Some filler on the joints, a rub down and a coat of primer...

Hello Steve.
This isn't a kit - I'm making them for myself and a friend who's doing the lathe-work.

The decals.
The gauges on the sheet are for my C Type Jaguar build.

They are waterslide decals, not stickers.

Thanks Dave.
I've always loved Fireball even though TB's was 'better'.

A quick blast with ally paint.
Outer wing pods next.

Roy.

Nice work, the parts look great. I remember watching all these shows - Fireball, Stingray, Supercar and of course Thunderbirds - must be getting old.

Thanks chaps.

I've started adding the decals to various parts, and the side pods are sorted.
Fireball Junior will be next - just waiting for the master being turned by a friend of mine.

Roy.

More done on XL5.

'Junior' - the nose cone - was turned in wood, detailed, and then a rubber mould made. The fins were cast separately.

A test piece has been mocked up and so far, so good.

Still a bit to do...

Roy.
