Issue 9 contains – Projector Shell, Projector Lens, Projector Pivot, Projector Mount, Dome Frame, Ring frame, Ring frame Connectors.

Extending the Head Chassis.

Start by taking the ring assembly from issue 8, the new ring frame, the two ring connectors and four more of the silver screws you used to fit the first connector (use the shorter silver screws from Issue 5).The ends of the ring frame have dovetail joints that fit into the ends of the ring assembly, (they only fit one way round).Fit a connector across one of the joints, making sure it is on the same side of the assembly as the connector you fitted in Issue 8. Fit two screws through the holes in the ring frames and screw them into the threaded holes in the connector. Repeat the process to fix the remaining joint together. That completes the upper ring which will form the base of the top third of the framework.

Take the framework from Issue 8 and fit the new frame into the gap.Use two more nuts and screws to fix the frame in place in the same way you did for the earlier frames. Align the framework with the top ring, noting that the holes in the top ring straddle the gap in the frame.Press the framework into place, making sure that all the locating pins on the frames fit into their holes in the top ring. Fit a nut into the first hexagonal recess in the frame work.Hold the nut in place and tighten a screw into it from the underside.  Fit another nut into the next hole around the circle. Add a second screw to hold the parts together firmly.Carry on in this way until you have fitted all 12 nuts and bolts around the ring.

R2-D2’s Rear Holographic Projector.

Take the four parts of the projector supplied this time, plus two self-tapping screws supplied with Issue 5.Fit the clear lens into the projector shell making sure it fits flush with the surround.  Fit the assembly into the projector pivot, the assembly should fit right inside the Projector Pivot.Take the projector mount and align the mount, noting the recesses in the outer ring of the pivot. Press the mount into the pivot making sure that its projecting arms fit into the recesses.Fit the screw through one of the holes in the mount and screw it into one of the holes in the shell. Add a second screw to the other holes in the mount and shell to hold the parts together firmly.

This Issue is now complete.

Carefully store any remaining parts in an issue labelled bag for future use.

Extending the Head Chassis.

Start by taking the assembly from Issue 9, the new frame and two more of the screws and nuts you used to fit the earlier frames.Position the dome frame, making sure that the two screw holes on top are aligned with the matching holes in the right pair of frames on the top row.Press the two locating pins in the frame into the holes in the metal ring so that the frame fits flush.  Holding the frame in place, fit a nut into one of the hexagonal recesses over the fixing hole.Holding the nut in place with a fingertip, turn the assembly over and tighten a screw into the nut.Repeat the process to fasten the other hole in the frame to the assembly.

Assembling the Lens.

If you haven’t already assembled them, take the faceplate from issue 1, the lens and extension from Issue 3.  You also need the mount and four black self- tapping screws.Whether or not you previously test-fitted the tab on the extension into the slot in the face plate, make the joint permanent by putting a couple of drops of super glue into the slot.  Press the extension into place making sure it is fully seated into the slot.If you haven’t removed the protective film from the lens already, do so now and then fit it into the lens mount, with the curved side upwards.

Make sure that the lens is fully seated in the recess in the mount, curving upwards.Fit the lens and its mount into the assembly from Step 3 making sure it is the right way round and that the four holes in the mount fit over the posts in the face plate.Fix the mount in place by driving a self-tapping screw into each of the four holes.

This Issue is now complete.

Issue 15 contains – Ring frames, Ring Frame Connectors.

Assembling the Centre Ring

Take the assembly from Issue 14, the parts supplied this time, together with six of the shorter silver screws from Issue 11 and the remaining connector from Issue 13. Arrange the parts as shown in the instructions.

Screw a connector to the end of the previous assembly, making sure you fit it to the same side as the existing one. Fit the end of the new frame into the matching dovetail joint in the end of the frame you just fitted the connector to and screw it to the connector.

Screw a second connector to the other end of the frame you just attached. Screw the remaining connector to the other end of the assembly.Fit the dovetail joints in both ends of the remaining frame to each end of the ring assembly and screw it to the connectors.

Attaching the Chassis

You will need 12 of the thinner screws and nuts supplied with Issue 11.Hold the completed ring with the connectors on top and align it with the assembled dome chassis. Locate the flat section of the dome frame against the flat of the ring to ensure the two assemblies are correctly aligned.
