Good afternoon everyone, I have not posted anything for a while iam watching everyone else But now i have a problem with the cannon supports. I have done all that it say's in the mag, but when i drilled through the gun ports it's come out into the support beams, everything lines up the drill was square going in, but it's the same in every gunport, will this realy matter so much, i don't know, (i hope not). Can anyone help or suggestions? Can i just say i love this forum just by reading some of the posts you can get yourself out of many a scrape. Glen Roger the Cabin Boy

When drilling in thru the ports you should in fact be drilling into the dummy gun support beams, are you saying this is/is not the case on your model, like bripfc say's can you post a photo of your problem?

Glen Mine do too but the holes are near to the top of the beam unlike the lower deck. I understand the extra supports were simply to provide reinforcement. If the holes had been in these supports I would have thought the cannons would be far too high from the deck. Read on from here also - gun supportJohn

Thanks Glen you have probelly have bored square to the hull instead off squared to the keel if you puta a spare plank accross port and stbd and follow that line or same line to deck

Thanks John, i think i might have got things right looking at yours, i thought the 2mm drill had to come out of the cannon supports not the support beams. If, by going with your picture the hole comes out of the support beam then everything is OK thank you you have put my mind at rest. What is the purpose of the cannon supports?, you have to paint them black and you can't see them anyway. Thanks again Glen Roger the Cabin Boy

Glen, the additional piece to the main gun support beam is there as a just in case the drill hole sits too close the beam edge, and therfore would need support above if that makes sense.

by the way, the supports are painted black so as to create an illusion of darkness when looking into a port which does not have a full gun kit within.
