This is something I hope Tomick can answer. Although I haven't got this far myself it has been puzzling me. When the stern gallery is built, part(actually most of it) of the overhangs we had to build when planking the hull is visible through the stern gallery windows, any access is then completely removed when the side gallery is roofed over(except for fiddly access through the windows)..how on earth is the hull planking visible in these areas supposed to be painted/stained? Visibilty of the planking/decking planking thru then gallery windows will be minimal, the glazing for the gallery windows will likely be a translucent yellow/amber acetate, where once the gallery is enclosed the darkness within should make it difficult to define much beyond the windows. However if you wish to stain/paint anything beyond the windows then its obviously best to do this before the gallery is enclosed.

I am wondering if it will be ok to cut back all of the planking to show as much of the galley area as possible as i was going to glaze with clear plastic, floor it out using a checkered pattern and get the wife to make red curtains (she dont know yet) Present Build: H.M.S. Victory H.M. Bark EndeavourPhotobox build albumIt cant be that bad, what do you mean it's sinking

It needs to be done very carefully because you'll notice that the planking also butts directly onto the rear of the gallery panel, where hacking away of the hull planking could weaken the gallery structure, and until you have all parts to hand for the make-up of gallery its probably best left until then and in the meantime watch how the gallery build progress'.

just a note if like me you do decide to paint the inertia of the gallery the wall colour is white with a hint of green unless paneled. “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
