BigGrin Hi All

Thanks for looking in and your comments Alan.

The oil cooler was painted and then made up and after the side louvres added to the body. Next the wheels were assembled ready for painting and the final holes drilled in the bodywork and the unused ones filled ready for painting.

I tried out the new Zero paints undercoat here and found it to be very good. I sprayed at 35 psi and mixed it at a ratio of 5 ml paint ,2.5 ml hardener and 1 ml thinner, be aware that after 30 minutes or so the paint will start to set so only use what you know will go in one spray session.

The above amount will fill the cup of my airbrush and gives quite good coverage managing to do one side of all the metal parts and the hard to get to places on the inner bodywork the second mix finished off the metal parts and inner body. I found the best results were obtained by covering each part in one go with a no trigger release.

After 24 hours the undercoat can be sanded/flatted back after doing any remedial work that may be needed.

More soon.

BigGrin Thanks for looking in and your comments everyone.

The wheel rims come as aluminium machined parts and the central cast central patterns are inserts that fit inside them. For the car I am modeling version 98 they will be colored a mix of gold and silver like the gear box colour.

I have also found in my research that version 98 had the small wrap around driver windscreen, half screen and full screen at different racing stages.

My rendition will be of the full screen street version [bog standard] that has been owned by a guy who bought it off Shelby as a road legal car then has looked after it like a baby ever since. God help the wife if there was a fire as the car would be saved first .LOL Blink LOL

In the first pic the screen is hard to see but the mounting strip is evident on the first car but shows on the second car. In the second pic the half screen can be seen, the last pic clearly shows the full screen version

BigGrin A little more progress.

After leaving the undercoat to cure properly the first coat of Semi Gloss Black has been sprayed to the insides of the body work, doors boot, bonnet and cooling air intakes. Another coat should finish this stage off then its a great deal of masking off and rubbing back the overspray so the top colour coat can go on.

More soon.
