I am currently laying the last 10 rows of planking on the bottom of the hull so planking is nearly done! there has been a rattle in my ship for a couple of weeks I assumed it was some debris, but last night I realised that the lower port side bow end gun support strip (the thing painted black for the dummy cannons to mount into)has come adrift and is flapping about!!!!  this must have happened when drilling the gun ports but only recently popped out completely. Any and every suggestion to solve this is gladly recived. can you actually see the moving part by looking inside the gun ports?
I wonder if making up a some long twezzer like tool and another that has some super glue, just like a surgeon try to get hold of the piece and drag it over close to where it needs to be and dab the glue onto the area it needs to be glued?
pushing from the other side will help manoeuvre it into place, you may need more than one pair of hands.

Unusual that the lower gun support rail has come adrift when the instruction was to glue and pin it in place.
Your going to need good access to re-set the rail, which the easiest route would be to cut an access hole around the forward mast area, which you should be okay doing because the area of the upper deck around the forward mast hole will not be visible once the main deck is in place, don't cut any further aft than frame 15, which is about 60mm forward of the large grating.

Hi jase,
This happened to me as well; when I was drilling the holes I slipped and heard a snap and there it was.
All I did was get a peice of sturdy thick wire, and as Zep has said, bent it round into a kind of hook. Think I made two or three, then put them through the ports and hooked it round the support, pulled it back to the ribs and then applied a generous amount of super glue to re-seal it, with PVA in the joins when the superglue dried. Once it had been done on all the ribs it seemed quite alright - has been ever since.
I re-painted the inside too so it looks good as new.

i had a similar problem, and did exactly what tom suggested, at this point however i had to cut away a section of the lower planking to hold it in place , this was hidden when i continued the re-planking of the hull current builds

I guess i was a bit sparing with the glue!! tried the fishing trough the port hole and can not quite get it so I am going through the deck Thanks everybody for the help I will be attempting salvage operations on Sunday and will let you know  “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”

repair done!!  I cut a small hole big enough for two fingers in the deck between rib 15 and 13. pushed back in place, almost! and Superglued in place. cheers chaps  “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.”
