Howdy everyone, I am a member of the R2 builders club. So I have built a full sized R2. Now in Southern California, we have a ton of R2-D2's so I built a Imperial Service Droid that works on the 2nd Death Star (Before it got blowed up :(). Meet R2-A1 (With the Lucasfilm Chopper) So I will be converting the kit to mimic my boy :) Mostly its a new paint job, but I may not use some of the gadget's that come with the kit as a Imperial Service Droid would not have it. (Lightsaber tube) Let's see how this turns out! Chris

He has a wood frame and legs, alum dome and skins and a bunch of resin parts :) His drive train is alum using NPC motors and fiberglass foot shells and battery boxes. Full remote controlled with lights and Lucasfilm sounds. Chris

He was at 125 or so before the upgrade. Im thinking hes going to be 160-170 after. New motors are heavy. Here is a video of him giving Seth Green the winning envelope for the Lucasfilm awards at Comiccon a few years back. R2 at Comic Con

Nice smooth paint finish. A very unusual change to the standard kit and very interesting to be following this one. Happy Modelling
