Issue 94 says to use the 4mm deadeyes supplied with Issues 92 & 93 but my issue 92 came with 50 5mm deadeyes (Issue 93 came with 17 4mm deadeyes)

Does anyone know if it's a typo in issue 94 when it says to use 4mm blocks or did the wrong blocks come with issue 92?

Thanks for any guidance.

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time with us and that you are enjoying your build.

The Victory build has been gong for some years now and a number of them have been built and shown on this forum. In all I cannot recall this problem having been highlighted before. Even on my build I cannot recall experiencing a problem here. Can you first of all confirm the deadeyes you have in fact received with stages 92 and 93 are two different sizes as outlined in the instructions.

Regards

Alan

Thanks Alan

I've definitely got two different sizes left here but I think the problem might just be the description of the blocks in one of the earlier issues. I think the blocks described as 5mm in either issue 90 or 92 were actually 4mm.

Hi Jim, looks like its a typo. I used the 50 deadeyes supplied with issue 92 plus those left over from other issues, that is 5mm deadeyes for the upper shrouds and futtock shrouds. Cool Cool .. Hope this helps.

Thanks Alan - I'll use those 5mm ones as wellBigGrin

Just out of interest on a completely unrelated question - I see that you're subscribing to the SoTS and you've already built Victory - which would you recommend as being more suitable for a beginner?

Hiya Jim and welcome.
They are both excellent kits and can be done by a beginner as the instructions are one of the best out there along with video builds if them. The Victory is the better of the two.

But if it's for a complete beginner then our new Swift kit is the perfect start point for a complete novice.

Nice to hear you're back on track Jim, onwards and upwards....Cool Cool .. In answer to your question I would have to agree with Magpie, the Victory is in my opinion the most detailed set of instructions you will fine but for a beginner then I would certainly think seriously about taking on the swift. It's a really nice kit for a beginner to get their teeth into....Cool Cool
