Hi gang, once again thanks for the positive comments.Have finished the bowsprit sails and rigging, decided to have the lower sail fully furled so as not to obscure Mr horsey guy.Next job will be the mizzen mast, haven't yet decided which sails to furl or unfurl.

Wow i can see you have put some hard work into this one and the results are amazing.

That is going to be one very eye catching model when complete.

Wow, your build really looks incredible. I am curious as to method you use to paint all the decorations? What paints did you use?

Thanks for your comments delboy and Sandman. Sandman for the gold decorations after priming with a black aerosol car primer I used games workshop paints and started with a deep gold base coat then a brown wash to give depth followed by progressively lighter shades of gold .The whole process turned out to be very time consuming and I am not sure the end result was worth the effort Bored

It was definitely worth the effort! The wash adds depth and a level of realism that brings your build to life. It certainly ranks as one of the best looking builds on the forum.

I assume you applied all paints except for the primer with a brush? What did you use to thin the wash? Was the brown a flat color or metallic as well?

A truly outstanding build. The way you have done the sails and ropes really bring the ship to life.
The paintwork looks superb and your SOTS is stunning.
Certainly one of the best and an inspiration for others.

Thanks Nige and Sandman, glad you like her.(must get her finished.Blushing Sandman the deep gold was brush applied, the brown came ready thinned as a non metallic flat wash and the highlights were drybrushed on. Forgot to mention all the decorations and wood was given 3 coats of ronseal matt varnish that when dry ended up with a slight sheen which I quite liked.
