Glued all the frames and left to dry. 4 tins of tomatoes with packing under the middle 2 to lift the ribs clear of the desk. Used jig with my camera on to add weight and keep it straight while drying. NikonD60 attached the following image(s): Today is the tomorrow you wished for yesterday!

That is coming along really well but please be careful that lovely camera does not take a tumble onto the floor. Hope it all continues well for you. Happy Modelling

Cut and glued deck support beams for middle gun deck and fitted gallery supports (photos 1&2). Dry fitted deck sections and glued the strengthener parts 33 and 34 (photos 3&4). After loosley fitting, marked out and varnished rear gun deck (photos 5&6). Glued each section and left to dry (photos 7&8). Hi Alan, coming along nicely... From what I see I would say it looks as if you need to do some more fairing yet but before doing so you need to think about what the fairing process is trying to achieve. When you take a planking test strip and run it along the hull you need to be ensuring the strip lies flat where it makes contact with the ribs and it needs to be the same for all the ribs. Also when laying your test strip you need to look for any ribs that may be low or high thereby causing a bump or dent in the flow of the planks. Where the ribs are below the flow line then these need to be built up and where they are high they need to be sanded back. Spending time getting the fairing process right will make a great difference to how the overall build will look. The stern can be a tricky area to get right so would suggest you study the Official build here so you can get an idea as to how it should look..... http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=1573

Hi Alan, Your build is progressing well. Regarding the fairing, Alan has summed it up. I think it does need a little more. (Unfortunately I did not photograph this part of my build so there is no reference) but, I remember that it took me about a morning to do (+/- 5 hours). I also have a "Mouse Sander" this was a great help. Just be careful not to remove too much material. Hope this helps. Garth "Measure twice, cut once!!!" Finished!!! Looking very nice Alan.
I agree with Alan, it is hard to spend too much time on the fairing as any bumps or dips will show up on the finished model. Every centimetre of every frame needs to be checked against the run of the test plank. I actually fixed 3 together giving me a run of nearly a metre. Also you will find many frames that need packing, so don't be afraid to do that. They can always be rubbed back again.

Thanks to all your comments, I read up and watched the videos. I realised how important fairing is to the finished look of the ship. With this in mind I spent all Saturday and Sunday night (Telly's rubbish) shaping the hull to the planks that I had bent as templates. Here's the result. Fairing the bow (photos 1&2). Fairing the stern (photos 3-6). Keel running nice and straight thanks to building jig (photo 7). I don't know how important the tops of the ribs are as there is a little give in them, but I done a bit of sanding and building up so they run straight to the template planks anyway. Side on (photos 8&9). Please could you advise if there is anything else I should consider, or is it safe to start planking. Thanks again for all your comments and the help you have given me. Alan. Started the planking and immediately realised the importance of fairing. Marked the lower gun ports (photos 1&2). Bow (photo 3).. Stern (photos 4&5).. Cut the gun ports, trimmed the stern planks and added another 3 rows of planking. Planked the forward bulkhead (photos 6-8). Cut the stern gun ports (photos 9&10). note:- Every step monitored and inspected by the Technical Engineer (Smudge) (photos 11&12).
