Now we get to make the 3 speed gearbox up. This is made up of the fork selector shaft and 2 driveshafts containing the gears and various circlips, bearings and screws holding it all together. The third pic shows the standard motor from the kit alongside the torque tuned option I am fitting. In the fourth pic the motor has been attached to the gearbox and after a liberal coating of grease on the gears encased in its outer casing. The fifth pic shows the engine assembly now fitted into the chassis and the main driveshaft attached to the rear wheels together with the shift lever attached to its servo. The final pic shows her current state with the underslung battery holder fitted together with 2 of the rear wheel fenders. Thanks for looking Al Spal attached the following image(s):

Had a few more goodies to add to the truck arrive yesterday. Firstly the Mfcu unit as detailed below. Tamiya MFU Multi-Function Control Unit MFC-03 - Euro 36523 This version of the MFC unit features engine sounds which were recorded from a real European truck L6 diesel engine for realism. Features 33 different types of sound, including engine ignition and shutdown, horn, gear changes, brakes, air sound effects and so on. 60mm-diameter full-range speaker in a resin case. Up to 21 actions can be controlled using a 4-channel transmitter. Lighting operation and volume adjustment are also possible using the transmitter. Includes white, red and yellow high brightness LEDs to duplicate truck HID lights with precision. An ESC has been built in to the unit, enabling realistic running at very low speeds. The MFC unit can be run in three modes: R/C mode with Multi-Function (lights and sounds) off; Multi mode, with R/C and multi-function on; Demo mode, which allows display of lights and sounds only. The MFC unit can be used for the Trailer support leg operation when using the 56505 Motorized Support Legs. Secondly is the Tamiya motorised support legs for use on the flatbed trailer. That looks the business. Only concern and hopefully I`m wrong, but are there metal gears and plastic ones meshing together. Wonder if that is a good idea if I`m seeing things right. That said, it`s coming on well and I`m sure it`s gonna be a lot of fun when it`s up and running. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

The idea behind it creates a quiet running gear box and that the gears are replaceable. in essence it's been specifically designed this way which has been spawned by Tamiya's R/C procuct development over 40+ years.

Those MFU units are really cool. They make the truck cab shake when it starts up and the engine noises are really authentic. They even change as the truck speeds up.They are super easy to install too.
