Trying to decide to invest in the DeAgostini approach to model ship building. I'm 66 so I've been around the block. As a partially disabled vet I have more time to sit quiet. Buying a kit like 6this is like buying a new car; there someone else with more stuff you really need to have. Which is best kit to start with? How does DeAgostini compare with JoTiKa and Model Expo? Lots more questions which will come soon.

Welcome to the forum David. The Swift is an ideal starter kit, http://www.model-space.c...swift-complete-kit.html
If you fancy something more challenging The Victory gets a lot of votes as a good ship to get you started. I can't comment on how these compare with the brands you've mentioned as I have no experience with them. I can say that the instructions with Victory are geared towards the less experienced and will help guide you through every stage. Hope this helps

Welcome to Modelspace, David. Id certainly go the DeAg way if your new to the hobby. If you were thinking of the Victory for instance then the Deag kit would be the way to go purely due to the fantastic instructions and the number of build diaries on here to refer to. The Jotika is the top of the line Victory but the instructions for this would be daunting to say the least. Good luck with whatever you decide on Steve

Hi David, Deag is a great way to get into it all. If you don't like it the kit or think it's too much to do you can stop and have only lose out on what you've had. As for the kits the Swift as mentioned before is a great starter kit and not too highly priced at £69.99. Secondly the Victory is the pinnacle of starter/amateur kits. It has possibly the best instructions available or any wooden kit, also a video build log so you see first hand how it should look every step of the way. I hope you make a great choice and start a build log for us all too see. Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hi David, welcome to the forum.I am forum support for USA so let me know if I can help in any way.
IF you have built any of the Model Expo Model shipways kits you will really like the Deagostini kits. The instructions in the kits are second to none.Even with limited modelling experience they will guide you step by step through every stage of construction.
