Had to laugh at the twits saying 'rip-off' etc...

How much do fag-addicts spend over 2 years?
What do they have to show for it apart from a wheelie bin full of empty packets and stinking dog ends, and a hacking cough - or worse...

The gutter press have been rolling out this dross for many years, its nothing new and nothing to see here type stuff, much the same old story line just a different product and ALL partwork publishers., Just a few months ago the DM sister newsrag ran this scaremongering dross.. https://www.thesun.co.uk...youll-really-part-with/

How dare they suggest that consumers are stupid or not entitled to do as they please with their hard earned money Cursing

"No news is good news!" And that is why the media has such a poor reputation because the only thing they do is "stir up trouble", "inflame passions (and not the romantic type)" and seek out all that is bad in order to try and "brighten" peoples lives.

Everyone has their views on what they want from life and what they want to spend their money on. If it was not for the partworks i certainly would not be able to have a lump sum to invest in something i really want.

I do not have pay tv because of the monthly cost and on the whole poor content but others may be happy investing their hard earned in such things. Nothing wrong with any of that.

I choose how to use my money and i am sure the majority of people will realise the overall costs of a model because buying the first part will show straight away there will be other editions to finish the model.

Newspapers are just there to destroy anything that is good and they certainly will not spoil my interests. BigGrin

Every time these articles come out I just find them annoying. It's not like anyone is forcing people to subscribe to these models. It's my hard earned money and I can spend it how I like.

So much for the scaremongers at The Dozy Morons news rag, it seems that the Jaguar is a popular seller at retailers.

I have just read through all the comments on the Daily Mail article for this model and like always, you always get those that think part works like these are a rip off and a waste of money. How people spend their money is entirely up to the individual. My pleasure is building models and my wife enjoys gardening and craft work. We both don't smoke, don't go down the pub every night, don't spend our money on watching football and spend it on pay view television channels, for programmes we are not not interested in.

My wife and I are both pensioners, who has to watch what we do spend and as long as we can get by on our weekly income, for our cost of living, saving enough for a few weeks holiday each year, we still manage to be able to spend some on our interests, without breaking the bank.

We only have twenty years left on this earth if we both reach our mid nineties and by then I don't think I will be capable of building any more models. My grandson will benefit from my Honda CB750 and my E-Type Jag when I pop my clogs and I am sure he will enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed building them.
So we are spending and enjoying life while we can. When you look back to your past, life is short really and you have to make the most of it and enjoy what you like doing best.

The moronic negative comments REALLY bug me.

They are ALWAYS made by idiots who have NO clue what these part works are all about.

YES they are expensive.
YES they are over a year or two. (Or even more)

That's the whole bluddy point...!!!

I quite agree with you Roy. Most of these idiots, haven't got a clue about what goes into producing models of this type, how well engineered they are and what gives pleasure to hundreds of thousands of modelers all over the world. Yes, like you say, they are very expensive but so are seasonal football tickets for the Premier League.Twelve months subscription of over two thousand pounds to become a member of a golf club.Yet there are those kind of people who are prepared to spend their money on such things. The mind boggles, the way some people rant on in newspaper comments who are just out to slag anybody off,if something doesn't suit them. They class anybody as stupid if they don't agree with them.
I don't waste my money on newspapers either, there is enough rubbish on the TV News without spending in on printed rubbish as well.

Oh look, yet another regurgitation of the same old..Laugh LOL

http://www.dailymail.co....Agostini-costs-888.html

"£100 will get you a model kit comparable to the quality offered by De Agostini." - is this guy for real?? Laugh LOL LOL LOL

Why do these guy's put themselves up to be made a fool of when they are clueles about the actual product?

That's one model shop I'll give a very wide berth to the next time I visit Brid Flapper

The Tamiya mag guy is just as clueless - "those interested in model-making should search out specialist magazines, shops and online forums." - how about google ModelSpace for starters Flapper

The DM newsrag cost's around £300 a year just for it to end up in the in or as tomorrow's chip paper Laugh LOL

Once again, thanks for the free advertising Rupert Laugh LOL

Hi,

So after lowering my standards and reading that rags article I then ran a quick search on the Revell model this guy is talking about and well I am no modelling expert as you are all aware but even I can see the massive difference between the two kits so I don't understand where this guy is coming from when he says it's the same?

May.

I've built several of the 1/8 Revell E Type kits and while it's 'ok', it's also massively wrong in many areas that need rectifying.
It's 100% plastic - except for the solid rear axle, which the real car doesn't have anyway.
Laughable to say it's as good as the DeAg version.

So an all-plastic [well, maybe not the tyres] kit for £100 that you have to glue together [watch out for that thumbprint that you'll now have to sand] and paint yourself [brushstrokes, runs, and orange-peel] that won't have working suspension, doesn't allow you to learn anything about the subject, won't have working lights [upgrade pack possibly sold separately, £200 more], is exactly the same as this?

Well, I'm soldLOL

I forgot to add...

The Revell kit doesn't have an opening tailgate.

Oh - no carpets either.

And the seats have no backs to them so they are hollow...

There's no real leather anywhere I could find.

And there's no fan, motor or shroud behind the radiator...

Did I forget to say the bonnet has no internals?

No steering column or rack.

Half the engine frame is completely missing.

Or that it's LHD only?

There's no 2000 pages worth of Jaguar magazines either BTW.

Mind you, those plastic moulded 'wire' wheels are OF COURSE as good as the DeAg ones... (complete with the awful vinyl tyres that don't actually fit)

Yes, easily as good as the DeAg one at a fraction of the cost.

Not forgeting that the DeAg kit also has lighting and real leather, that guy is an idiot to suggest the same could be found for £100 and clearly does not know his stuff!

The best point in the whole comments was a guy saying that people who pay £3 for a coffee from one of those places like SB, or costa, spend £750 a year for a single cup every weekday of the year.

So I said OK, I can have a single coffee a day and 2 years on have nothing to show for it, or I can spend the same amount subscribe to the Jag, and have an amazing replica of an iconic car at the end? I call that a bargain!
